This sunglass tray was designed based on the statement “lack of” which was derived from a research project related to the way each of the five senses is engaged in the post office. Throughout my research, I recognized the deliberate lack of sensory engagement within the space. This choice is functional in that it creates clear direction and strips away any unnecessary distractions. 

 

Similarly to the post office, lack of creates functionality, and in this case it was utilized to inform the form of this piece. Minimal and intentional divots in the tray hold the frame of a pair of glasses. Use of negative space gives the tray a clear function and purpose it would not have otherwise.
