This stool was designed during my sophomore year fabrication studio. The assignment parameters were to design and build a stool or bench with no visible joinery and to use only half a sheet of birch plywood with no additional materials. This chair is constructed with twenty six wooden dowel joints and wood glue.

The design intent for this piece was to create a chair which would be easy to pick up and move. While the slats serve to make the chair lighter they also filter light to create subtle gridded shadows. The lower rack serves as storage for a small stack of books.
